Chocolates

Do you fancy yourself a fan of chocolate?

Undoubtedly. We all like chocolates. Read on.

Godiva chocolates go kosher
In 1995, Godiva began offering the most extensive kosher selection of chocolate confections of any gourmet chocolatier under the guidance of its own Rabbinical coordinator, Rabbi Moshe Elefant of the Orthodox Union Kashruth Division. This came as a very welcome surprise to those who appreciate fine chocolates but are limited by what they can eat because of the laws of Kashrut. The company also offers these same chocolates online through it website, making it one of the first gourmet brands to offer it variety of chocolates over the Internet.

The Godiva plant, which is located in Reading, Pennsylvania, is certified as a kosher manufacturing facility. the equipment, utensils, and everything else used in food production has undergone "kosherization". In order to get their certification a field supervisor of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America inspected the facility and sanctioned all of its ingredients.

Be sure that your Godiva chocolates are kosher
Everything is kosher dairy, but is still made from the same ingredients, formulas, and processes as Godiva has always employed. there is no change in the taste or the quality of their chocolates . They are, however, not kosher for Passover and do not have any plans to make them so.

Also it must be kept in mind that any of their chocolates imported from Belgium as well as liqueur truffles, Cafe Godiva, and Godiva biscotti are not kosher. After the description of each product on the label, look for the Kosher OU-D symbol to ensure that the chocolates you are buying are indeed kosher. The Kosher OU-D symbol is also on all of their packages that are kosher.

It is wonderful that a world renowned company that makes such fantastic confections has opened their eyes to the kosher market. There are precious few choices out there with fine chocolate for those who follow all the laws of Kashrut, why not support those companies that do and treat yourself to some of the best chocolate in the world.
